Smile River Carron Brownie

Hi Guys

2010 is my first year fishing the River Carron (Stirlingshire) had a great time so far learnt LOADS ! caught tons of fish mostly parr and wee wild brownies most under the limit 9" i think ......... but a few 12/13 inchers

Started off with my Dads 8' 3/4# Sonik 3 before switching to my Vision Cult 9' 3#

The Cult is just ideal for small river fish great roll cast's, smooth short casts and best of all so much "feel" im simlpy in love with this rod

Popped out yesterday (first time for 6 weeks) for a wee while, took Dads Sonik 3 (mistake ) ive been using the Cult week in week out the sonik is stiff and life less in comparision !

Anyway hooked and lost two browns both around the 10" mark, missed two bites all on black pennel and partridge and yellow .......... alot less fish / tugs than normally i get ?? Just about to call it a day when put on a size 16 Copper head hares ear, size 16 ptn and fished them in a deeper pool at the end of a run............ bang ! line went solid , thought id snagged ? till it took off and ran up stream like a stung whippet !! all my loose line shot out and pretty soon i was cranking up the drag on my Snowbee Geo reel

Really woke my up ! after a nerve shattering fight up stream , down stream, back up stream finally brought a 14" 1lb 3oz Brownie to hand, my best yet from the Carron im guessing a stockie ??

Must remember to take my Cult next time the sonik will be staying at home !

Cracking fish.

Passed the viaduct at Larbert tonight on my way to see the folks in Camelon and there were loads of cars parked by the river. It's not only troots that go on a run when the rains come

A stockie from the carron has a small blue dot on the belly . That fish looks wild as the pattern of the stockies are different from above .
