Default The master fisherman

Walking along the bank of the Hermitage Stream near Langstone Harbour, when I spotted this Cormorant fly past me. Grabbed a couple of shots and thought they might be of interest here.

When the tide comes in, so too do the fish. In this case Grey Mullet which is abundant in the harbour.

This fish was huge and still thrashing around. How the Cormorant managed to fly with this in its beak really impressed me. It was trying to find more open water to deal with the fish.

Having landed ahead of me, the Cormorant had to try and position the fish to swallow it.

Success at last. I missed the next bit as I had to see to my dog. But I leave it to your imagination.

Thank you Mostyn.
These were more or less snap shots. The whole incident rapidly unfurled before me so I did not have time to perfect the shots. Still, better these than none at all

Well done, right time right place.
You could always use the feathers to tie some cormorants.

Thank you both for your comments. Not being a fisherman myself, I wonder what is meant by using feathers as ties?
