My beloved Samsung NV5 may be on its way out. The telescopic lense seems to have jammed fast and after messing about with it all morning, my last course of action may be to take the thing apart and have a look see......which will in all likelihood result in it dying completely.

Needless to say I'm upset about this. The camera is a gem and they aren't available anymore. If the worst comes to the worst, does anyone have any experience of how the more recent NVs (7,10,11 etc) perform in comparison.....or - deep breath - any recommendations for a top performing digital compact?

Just purchased an NV5 on ebay for £45 plus postage.Down as only used a couple of times, but brand new as far as I can see.Only purchased on the strength of scratches photographs on here.
Now I'll have to ask scratch about the correct settings or thereabouts for his up-close macro shots, so I can attempt to repeat. In standard auto mode the shots are fantastic, and the zoom is just brilliant.
