Here's one for ye...

Two images, the same except one ended up being the other way round. One was taken with a camera. The other was taken with a flat-bed scanner. Can you tell which is which?

I'm a bit out my comfort zone with all this arty stuff, BTW!

Wrong. But I can see why you went that way - I'd have done the same. It was blummin' difficult getting the lighting as even with the camera as it was with the scanner (which kind of took care of itself ) Interesting wee exercise. Could try laying out a grid of flies on the scanner, maybe...

Er, dunno Rob. Look about similar sharpness at this end, though not in the same areas. I left all sharpening off both until last thing and then gave them both the same amount. If you think about it, the camera's sensor is the size of... er, whatever a C-size sensor is - less than a 35 mm frame anyway, while the scanner's sensor is the size of a sheet of A4.

Aye Col, I just hate to think that a £100 scanner would win over a £800 DSLR

The thing that really persuaded me though was the 'hard light' on the centre of the right hand leaf... like the 'flash' off a scanner, if the leaf wasn't completely flat or summat

£45 the scanner was, if memory serves. If it makes it any easier to accept, it's a Canon scanner
