I just got back from a couple of weeks in the good ol' USA. This was the first trip out there for me, the missus and our bambino. It was a family holiday, but i was lucky enough to get a couple days man time fishing with one of my best friends, who I only get to see once a year. He turned 70 this year and we were lucky enough to get away for a days fishing. A friend of his owns a "cabin" on the banks of a well known river in southern Colorado, and he managed to wangle us a days fishing for free of course. The owner dosn't even fish, but I can understand why he spends so much time there, it is a place of sheer beauty.
The fishing ( that's why we are all here right?), is pretty immense. The river is a typical freestone river, fed from the mountains, and it runs very cold. The water is so clear you can see your prey with ease, and these fish are hungry!
In true American style, we made the 480 mile round trip and fished as late as possible. We had to get back through one stretch of the Jicarilla Apache reservation before sundown, because the road began to team with big elk and deer.
We fished hard and caught way more than our fair share of fish. Most of the fish were on nymphs, although me managed a couple in the late afternoon on the "Halachute Adams".
Anyway, enough of the text, here's a couple pics....
