Default Loch Lyoch

As Craigie said in another post the clyde was like a galaday at Wolfeclyde today.

So I had a go at a local stillwater.

First was this out of season Brown Trout on a size 18 Claret F-Fly.

Then just after dark this fellow arrived on the scene to a Sedge Pupa.

**** camera on my phone - Still enjoyed my day.
Rainbow were still rising freely when I left at 7.45.

wolfclyde bridge seems to be a victim of its own success, the old forum report can be a double edged sword.

Nah, I blame Proctor's article a couple of years back in T&S. The following opening season started with 23 cars on the bridge.

Thankfully half the clowns that visit the water don't have the first idea how to fish a river. They treat it as a small stock pond.

Craigie and I where fishing a pool on the Tweed a couple of years back, some very big broonies where rising taking olives off the top near the margins. We had a few each on the dries and nymphs and decided to rest the pool. About an hour later we went back to find 3 blokes wading down the middle swinging bibios and kate mclarens with fish rising all around them. The best thing about was that they each had a nets on their back expecting to catch something!!!

You see some sights on the river, those thingamabobbers being swung round with the angler transfixed on it half expecting it to be swallowed as it skates by at 100mph..................

I used to fish Gameshope Loch but someone on another forum done a report on it - (No problems with that) but the shepherd told me two anglers killed 20 odd trout one evening - This is why I will never name my hill loch's from now on , ****in boils my blood killing 20 odd brownies

Its best to keep the guys guessing unless its a commercial rainbow water.

This type of thing is becoming more common on the rivers , No watercraft whatsoever.

They fish them like commercial waters

Just for the sake of clarity i have fished with both thingymaybobs and fritz flies for Grayling and they both work. Powerbait i am sure does work.
Thingymaybobs are just an other klinkstyle dry, while fritz is just icedub or glistner in a different packet.

I suppose the consolation is they stand at the bridge swinging things downstream, confined to a 50 yard stretch for them all. Seems fair, at least they have the manners to leave some nice bits for the rest of us.

Col -with the watercraft, i'm doing my best to learn, it's a bloody load harder than loch fishing

Walker - believe it or not, on the River Ba up in glencoe i caught fish upto not much below the pound mark on a skated across and down sedge Out of pure chance, my line was drifting down as i fiddled with something and a fish took it. Fished through a couple pools doing this a picked up a whole load
