Default A wild and lonely place....

...as Pte Fraser would say. My fishing pal John and I tried a long weekend's exploration last month. We used the Tomdoun Hotel as our base (lies on the River Garry, the one on the other side of the Great Glen). Good accommodation and superb food. The 2 main lochs in the area are Quoich and Garry. Both are noted for ferox trout and Garry also for pike. However, we only went after the 'normal' trout. We got the impression the River Garry is the main fishing in the area, and our visit fell between 2 stools, as it fishes best April and then again in September. Cracking looking bit of water, though - it kind of goes lochan, channel, river, lochan, channel, river... all the way down.

We ran into a guy who has his own boat that he garages at the hotel, and he comes up from south whenever he can and just trolls Garry for ferox. He certainly had plenty photographic evidence of his successes.

Anyroadup, I put together a page of photos and associated drivel on our exploits...

Tomdoun

Cheers,

Col

If only...

Maybe it might have been more effective against clegs than either Jungle Formula or Autan, liberal coatings of which made not a blind bit of difference against the fellows. Never tried that "Skin so Soft". I believe Scratch speaks highly of it, though I don't think he uses it to repel insects.

Default Note

Both Jungle Formula and Autan in their ordinary versions are now Deet free.you have to buy expedition strength to get some deet .to keep the clegs away (at least a wee bit)

I've got this stuff - it's years old, and it's probably not very good for you!

95% DEET!
