Default Aquarium Entomology!

Ive just started keeping tropical fish, have myself a nice sized aquarium and a few fish, including

2 Dalmation Mollies
4 Glowlight Rasboras
2 Featherfin Rainbows
5 Neon Tetras
Numerous shrimps/snails etc.

And this!
Click the image to open in full size.

god knows what it is, or what its doing there, I never put it in and it looks very much like a damsel nymph with a 3 lobed tail.

its in an aquarium at about 27degC.

any one know what it is, or how they get there?

Go to the Practical Fishkeeping website .They have good Community pages and I'm sure they'll provide an answer to anything you need to know ...I'm surpised the Nymph or whatever it is has survived .Have you added any rocks from a river and maybe not washed them properly?

I would also recommend joining the PFK website, I happen to be a member on their forum. Do you have any live plants?

Cheers for the feedback guys!

i have several live plants, not too sure of their names but all of my plants are live. The best scenario i can think of is that some of these plants have been either outdoors, or in a large greenhouse type affair and subsequently been visited by a damsel fly.

i haven't seen it since, but ill keep my eye out and let you know if it progresses in its life cycle.

cheers

chris

I actually kept a fish tank running for a few weeks which was completely devoid of fish and live plants and within that time a whole colony of fresh water shrimps appeared. I even had to send a sample to Anglian Water as proof.

This water had come straight from the tap so you'll be amazed at what we could be drinking.
