Are you sure its a sea trout ? hate to burst your bubble but it looks like a brown from low down in the river, and fighting deep is not very sea trout'ish.

I am / was pretty sure it is a sea trout as the brown trout in the river are totally different stocked and wild ...... plus i got better fight of this fish than any brown trout I have had even double this size ..............

Ive seen fish like this before ,,and most say they are either ,stock trout ,or trout that have been in the lowest parts of the river were their may be a tidal pool or tidal influance, and thus they are called a slob trout ,as it never really goes to sea ,and again the discussion could be had that they are all just brown trout ,some sea run ,some not ,but brown trout all the same.

I see where you are coming from marky, and personally I can't tell you but I can say I've had a few stockie browns from my local that have had a very pale colour much like your fish. I think if the spots were stronger, and the fish looked a bit leaner/more muscular it would look a little more sea troutish? that flabby belly is very much a trait of a stockie unfortunately.

I know what your saying ... but I didnt think the build of the fish at this stage .... three quarters of a lb would be any different to a stockie/ regular brownie of the same size? I was going on the sheer colour and fight on my guestamation of it being a sea trout .... on another note iv had at least 40% of my catches on the lower side of the river close or in tidal water and still havent seen a fish like this, they have all been distinct brown trout.

but im here to learn so I like hearing the facts and views .
