Had an enjoyable day (despite the wind) on Rutland today with Skev from the Forum. It's his first season of fly fishing and so I thought I'd introduce him to the delights of loch style drifting. Despite a gusting, swirling wind he managed to catch this lovely rainbow of 4lb 5oz over the front of a drifting boat. Not easy in those conditions.
Although not overwintered, the fish had a full tail and seemed in excellent condition; I suspect it was one of the pre-season stockies.
It was caught on a crisp packet buzzer about 200 yards out of Transformer bay, so it just goes to show that there are fish in the North Arm!
Anyway, well done mate and thanks for a great day on the water.
