Nice set of pics Nigel,nice brownie as well
But
Poppers,well it just isn't cricket is it

Nigel,meant to have asked,were you ripping it through or just a slow retrieve?

I was kind of jerking the popper about 12" or so then leaving it and jerking again but alternating the amount of time between jerks and strength of jerk.
Seemed to work better when there was a ripple on the water. But

Umpire referals, well thats not quite cricket either is it!

Yes he did! When he hit the popper, he trashed around on the surface for ages in the same spot, did a couple of jumps and a big surging run!
I showed the pics to the baliff and he thought it was a double? I don't think so, what do you think?

I think it's a beautful overwintered fish that dare i say it is the equal of many larger water brownies... as to size, i think you were a lot closer to the mark than the bailiff, If i had to guess i'd say he was somewhere between 6-7lb lovely fish.
