Default Annan trout

Was fishing for grayling yesterday on the Annan and caught these cracking trout, first one is 60cm and other one is 49cm, both were played quickly and returned straight after a quick photo.

Cracking trout and not displaying any of the kelt like qualities of early season fish.

The big fish was a little on the thin side but still in great condition for time of year, bottom fish was as fat as a pig, maybe been nipping into m'cdonalds through the winter

Had two grayling, both were 38cm, funny thing is my mate(broontroot)went into a run and caught grayling, i went in behind him and caught trout, next run i was first in, again trout for me grayling for him, i ended up with seven trout smallest being 38cm. both fishing the same method and just about the same flies, only difference was his flies had 2.5mm bead on them, mine were 2mm, getting down just a bit quicker in the slower water.

I'd say that first fish has spawned as the bottom of its tail is worn and its a little on the thin side. Still two fine fish and good sport I bet. Well done.

Glad you pointed that out Andrew. Now that you look closely you can also see the 'dimple' in it's belly. I would have had no idea about that, or the roughness on the lower edge of it's tail. Obviously the eyes of experience. Brilliant sir.

They are stilll two beautiful fish and a pleasure to see them posted.
