Default Roach

I caught this today, do you think it's a roach or some sort of roach hybrid?

I'd say that was a roach/rudd hybrid.

Hard to tell, can't really see the mouth but it appears upturned. Looking at the overall colour and the position of the dorsal, I would go for rudd. If not a true rudd probably rudd/roach hybrid, but rudd at first glance.

from the other pics it looks more roach/bream hybrid, definately more roach than anything, but I wouldnt say pure bred.

Roach/rudd. Very common in some of the lakes over here. Grow huge, much bigger than either roach or rudd.

Kerwin - thats a roach.

Roach over 12ozs seem to take on a very deep body on rivers.
Nice fish.

I agree with nelson66 - it's a roach. Upper lip extends beyond lower; leading edge of dorsal pretty well level with pelvics; eye and pectoral fin colour correct; scale count correct (the fish passes the five-scale-triangle test first described by E Marshall Hardy) and the tell-tale blue tint at the wrist of the tail.

Nice fish - what did it take? I'm guessing it weighed about a pound?
