Following the theme of snow fishing then, this is a mate of mine I've been (badly) tutoring. His name is Steve. Say hello Steve....

I took him to a local trout farm so he could get his eye in and hopefully catch a few fish to get him going and make a nice day of it. Anyway, first day:

A bit nippy but we soldier on.

It's a two bag limit so Steve catches a few under my expert () choice of tactics.

A nice rainbow for the pot.

The light starts fading so we head for home after a few last casts.

Glasses Steve.

GLASSES STEVE!!!

PUT YOUR GODDAM GLASSES ON WILL YA?!?!?!

Fine. Lose you eyesight then.

Next thing you know he's ringing me up asking if we can go the next weekend. I think he's taken the bait, hooked, you fill in the pun.

We head back and low and behold he catches a beast. Now it would be so bad he was lifting off to recasts the jammy get, I mean well done:

The thing was that big that I broke my priest after two decent thuds but it did the job just about.

Here it is with an average fish for this water of about 3.5lbs. See if you can guess which is which:

So that's it now. I have introduced a friend to our fabulous past time and it looks like he's here to stay.

Tight lines.

I have booked us in for a day's proper tuition so I can iron out a few creases and he can get a full makeover.

I really need to get some river fishing in this year. I have a set of waders I have worn once!!!! Need to get my money's worth.

Yes, it was Kilnsey. Thought best he catch something to begin with just to keep him interested. He'll have enough blank days over the duration of his stay I can guarantee it just like everyone else.

blanks will just make him more, eagre, if he gets too much success he will get bored, no challenge.

you do right taking him to a trout farm, I think a river would be a bit of a step up for the lad.
