Default Meon Springs fishery. 5th January 2009

Hi all,

Here are the photographs I shot from a visit to Meon Springs last Sat. I didn't take that many as I wanted to fish! Hope you enjoy! I have also posted a written reveiw in Stillwater Updates.

Nice pictures. Definitely looks as if the fishery's in an extremely nice location. Cracking trout as well!

Great pics flybysage.

This is my local fishery and is the best stillwater I have visited by far. I prefer rivers but mine are closed and Meon Springs is the only stillwater I consider visiting. Great facilities, nobody tapping you on the shoulder at a time limit, free tea and coffee, food available (the latter for purchase) and really friendly staff. Also stock a decent range of tackle in case you forget/break anything. Keith gave me a good 30-45 mins casting tuition and wouldn't take anything. Outstanding. And the fish are good too!

It's also ice-free this weekend as the spring is so close and the water is at 8 deg Celsius, despite the overnight Meon Valley temps being down to -9 last night.

Hi,

Meon Springs is comprised of two lakes. The River Meon flows into Coombe lake first, then through a stock pond, then into Whitewool Lake and lastly down into two sections of the River Meon beat. Its a lovely fishery and one which has stayed open these last weeks, no ice!
