Was just about to add a couple of photos to the gallery when I the thought of chucking together a wee photo run down of the past year on the river Earn:-
January, it was cold but the grayling were still willing.

The Earn

Some winter spiders

One in the snow.
February and start of the Salmon season but the grayling are still on form.

The Reptile
March was still cold but the Brownies came out to play and the grayling were still in the mood.

First Brownie came on the 16th, early for the Earn.
If anything April was colder than March, an Easterly wind dominated and hatches were scarce. I didn’t manage many fish.

First hint or green on the trees.

I did manage my first of the season on a dry though.
May started with the Easterlies still dominant but as the month went on it warmed up and finally there was a decent hatch, it was grayling that dominated the catch though.

Gadger going for a klink

The LDO’s finally made an appearance.
June was dominated by low water and the easterlies were back. Managed a Sea Trout, after the one spate, at the end of the month.

Summer low.

Apart from a few wee finnock it was my only sea trout of the season.
July was a bit of a right off, there was plenty of water and some grilse about but I never got the chance to get out. Had a good couple of weeks on Islay though.
August, due to a bit of a toe wound, I was under doctors orders not to fish but I ignored him and was rewarded with a few fish on streamers.

Biggest brownie of the year.
September and the grayling were back with a vengeance.

A cute one
October brought the end of the trout season and the start of the salmon run.

Last brownie came on the 5th, it had spawned.

There were still plenty of grayling.

I spent 54 hours fishing for them and only managed this one.
November and the salmon season is over but the grayling are in full swing and its snowing…..

Snowy day

This one is showing off.
December and the cold snap has put the grayling down, they are hard to come by, even the slow deep pools aren’t producing.

Nice pool, just nae fish.

One of the few to give themselves up.
It was a good year for me, plenty fishing and a fair few fish, not as many big troots as in the past but more than made up for with some quality grayling. Not many migratories though. The seatrout have been noticeably absent this year, plenty of Salmon just I can’t catch them.
Thanks for bearing with me.
