Default High Newton. Rainbow.

After much pressure from Mr Terry Cousin I am posting this picture of a very nice Bow of 4.5lbs caught yesterday at High Newton.
Fish took a Damsel Nymph on an intermediate.

Hi Matt, wouldn't mind a Brownie that size off Bolton Willows. That would be something to shout about.

Very good Stewart. In fact it was my fathers old 18ft #12, just dwarfs that fish.

I bet there's a fish that size on BW somewhere! I remember being in brief contact with one on Anthony Holme a few years ago which would have certainly been been near 4lb than 3 - they are there alright!

Have you seen Mike Duddy's big out-of-season trout on the 'length to weight ratio' thread on the trout fishing section? that is some wild brownie!!

ATB,
M

Wow, now that is a fish Matt. I'm sure your right about BW, there is a big one with my name on it somewhere, just hope I get to it before old TC.

Now then, my friend, that wasn't so bad after all. Well done, like I said on Tuesday. The fish looks better than the scenery!!! Cheers, Terry

Yes Matt, we do have some big trout on Eden, but the biggest I ever saw was on lower Eamont, in April 1963. It looked about 6lb, was seen by a friend who worked on the estate ( Winderwath ) and he fed it during his meal breaks when farming in the vicinity. He reckoned it was about 9lbs before it was killed by pollution in autumn 1968, when th new A66 road was being developed, The dual carriageway bridge collapsed, during construction, depositing loads of wet concrete in the river, if I remember correctly.
