My friend used to fish the Bollin before everyone killed the fish. Where was this one from, he asks?

I am really encouraged to see that lovely fish Chizzers. I used to live a couple of miles down the road from that section of the Bollin and in those days it was as dead as a dodo. I used to fish a tiny trib of the Bollin - the Birkin, between Rostherne and Hale - and that had some fantastic trout in it. Do you know the stream at all?

Default yes and yes

Chizzers & TM, I regulary fish the Bollin and if you know where to go there are some cracking wild brownies up to 5lb.

The Birken Fly Fishing Association has the stretch of the Bollin from up stream of Hale golf club down to the bridge by the large roundabout at Altrincham, as well as many miles of the Birken. The Birken produces more fish and larger fish due to the stocking but for me the Bollin is my go to water, its wild, unkempt and I have never seen another angler on the water and its easy to kid yourself its YOUR water

ps there's some nice chub, perch & pike to be had on the fly as well
