Default Tubing on Loch Earn

Hi Guys

I have been float tubing on Loch Earn four times now in the last 2 months, only blanked once Taken alot of rainbows mostly around the 14" mark fit as fiddles,,dam good sport as they dive hard for the bottom put a real bend in my little 5#

I was up yesterday dam windy, big waves, big swell best fishing ive ever had ive only been fly fishing for a year. Best fish 2 1/4 lb best fight a cracking 1 /3/4lb er that had me on to my backing ."twice" its the first time ive caught into double figures missed another 6 and hooked up but lost another 3 every thing 14" up all rainbows. All taken on leven spider on the point in the morning then after lunch the big bushy kate maclaren on the top dropper took half the bag and the spider stopped working ??

It was not too long ago (only a few months) i had real confidence issues on BIG waters .........but not anymore

When I went past Loch Earn yesterday, I thought I noticed someone tubing near the North shore just east of the yacht club, by the "rocky" shore - must have been about 6:30pm. Don't suppose it was you?

Hi

It was'nt us must be more loony's............. i mean float tubers out that day

Im not a fan of boat fishing at all id rather fish from the bank , but float tubing is superb i love the fact you can stop "anywhere" and launch "anywhere" dont need no slip way, dont need no ruddy great trailer or huge 4X4 to tow the ****** the feeling for freedom is the best.

I love the fact im "in" the water rather than "on" the water too and i think cos you cant "open up" the engine, you spend more time searching out the water.

Thinking ahead to Christmas here, and fancy putting a float tube on my list,
but wondered where I could use it on Scottish waters, is there a list of venues that allow float tubers?

Also how safe are they when the wind blows, and do you recomend a life jacket?

Thanks

Scott

Hi Mate

Safe as houses we have been out in weather when the boat guys are took chicken big waves are not sore like they are in a boat you dont "slam" you just bob along wind not a huge problem, just sit with your back to it, i use my light 5# even in gales force winds as you simply cast with it.

Buy diving fins they are "WAY" better then tubing ones

Playing and and fighting fish is even more fun and offers other challanges, such as fish trying to get into the tube with you also getting them wrapped round your legs and getting your **** spanked by the fishes tail

But you will soon learn how over come these new things.
