yes your right it is a very underrated river (not by me though

),somedays i might not see another angler all day when i go out .
my club ,ferryhill and dist AC has upped the size limit to 12" for a takeable brown trout now , which in my opinion is a great decision .
i just wish they would ban fishing for trout with bait altogether , as soon as the coarse season starts some of the bait fishers use this as an excuse to take their limit of 2 trout a day

there is still a good head of wild browns in the river and every now and again a 3lb fish makes an appearance , there is still some nice grayling in the river too , not as many as years ago though .although i had 2 the other night about 4" long so atleast they are still reproducing which is a good sign .
the wear is also a good salmon and seatrout river , don't fish for them myself but maybe one day i will .
for £45 a year for about 10 miles of water on the wear + stretches on the tyne and tees you can't go wrong
