I did wonder about that too. It does look very stocky and the tail a bit straight but it could all be down to the angle. I wouldn't bet against anyone who was actually there

A well caught shot, I've taken lots of pictures of falls and weirs like that but without the fish, or only half an out of focus fish

You may well have a point there. There were sea trout there but they were very very spotty, may even have been brownies. It could be a sea trout, but the darkness of the back and the lack of spots made me think it was a salmon.
