Default Weekend @ Loch Rannoch

Thought I'd share some pictures from the weekend. Me and my old man took the boat up to rannoch and did some camping and fishing. Got lots of nice wee brownies with some nice pike mixed in too and a stonker of a brownie-my PB wildie i think. All fish were returned with sore mouths

The first day was cold with a really strong easterly blowing down the loch. Still a few of these mayfly were hatching off throughout the weekend, and the trout were occasionally taking them-a golden olive bumble did the trick.....

Within a few casts I was into one

Two at a time!

Stopped for lunch on a sandy beach where we've had wee jack pike before. I thought I'd try out my new pike gear and within 5 casts got this

Had a few more from the west end of the loch

Back on the trout I hooked what I thought was a foul hooked fish as it just wouldnt come to the surface but it turned out to be this beauty

Great weekend, cant wait to get back.

Anyone care to hazard a guess at the weight of the pike as I've no idea???.

Very nice photos of what was obviously a great day out but I think that 8lbs was a bit optimistic for the pike, they never weigh as much as their length suggests. I'd say about 6lb for the biggest.......... unless you are 7 foot tall and have huge hands!

Brilliant photos and a great report, really enjoyed both.

I would guesstimate your biggest pike at about 5-6lb, but they are a ****** to judge from photos.
