Default Lough Mask May 08

The fishing was the worst I have experienced in all my trips to the lake. North East wind did not help. Poor hatch of fly and the trout were not interested. Two of us caught 3 "keepers" for 8 days hard fishing. Broke prop shaft on one of Mask's numerous rocks while going at full tilt!! It was a subtle reminder of who is boss on that lake.
The scenery is about all that was still up to the usual breath taking standard so we had plenty to look at. Dining out with two sirloin steaks on the BBQ and a nice bottle of red looking at that view is very hard to beat.
Still, we'll be back again next year and maybe with a bit of luck I might get a few days in September.
Hope you enjoy the photos
Jerome

Cracking photos jfb, don"t feel to disheartened about the fishing ,everywhere else was the same.My worst mayfly in recollection the cold north easterlies never relented for almost six weeks here as a result the fishing was dire.As you have fished mask before is can be pretty spectucalar when their switched on.

Thanks lads. I might be over again in September for a week if all goes well. We are thinking of a few days on Conn with the rest of the week on Mask but only if the fishing reports improve. So, I'll be watching out for your updates Grasshopper!

All the best

Jerome

Welcome to the forum Jerome, some brilliant photo's there. I suppose you could call it "the lure of the lake", it keeps calling you back whatever the conditions.
