Default NZ winter fishing

Winter Fishing NZ.

THE time is approaching for NZ night time winter fishing. Big rainbows in close, soft sips and reel screaming runs.

Night time fishing usually involves lots of layers, lumo doll flies, big streamers, sinking lines, and the milky way in all it's glory to light up the southern sky.

I recognise that - the NZ way of holding a fish. No need to hold it up to the camera or use a wide angle lense.

Where is the cloud of sandlflies to complete the west coast scene?

Don't know about winter, took this just before anzac day on the orari river, 24 degrees, bright sun, hatch of duns and this fish head and tailed the fly, got a little chilly later but still nice in the evening...so no sign of winter yet. and no sandflies.
