Some nice ones in that second batch. Off topic, do you ever fish for Steelhead in salt water and what is California like for Steelhead?

Where the wandering water gushes
From the hills above Glen-Car,
In pools among the rushes
That scarce could bathe a star,
We seek for slumbering trout
And whispering in their ears
Give them unquiet dreams;
Leaning softly out
From ferns that drop their tears
Over the young streams.
Come away, O human child!
To the waters and the wild
With a faery, hand in hand,
For the world's more full of weeping than you can understand.

Haven't fished 'the salt' for steelhead since I moved south out of Washington State. There fishing for them off the 'points' in Puget Sound was a hoot. With a flowing tide the fish (salmon and steelhead) would school up down stream of a point and you'd fish for them with very heavy shooting heads just like you would if you were in a 'flowing river.' Cast up, let the line sink/swing around and 'hope like hell.' Actually it could be more productive that river fishing early in the season.

Vis a vis California, steelhead (and salmon) used to be a very common thing as far south as Los Angeles. Unfort. 'used to be' is the operative term. The main locations (that are now fished) are pretty well confined to the Russian River (north of San Francisco), The Sacramento River, and the rivers in NW corner of California such as the Ell, Redwood Creek, and the (truly) world famous Smith River. Smith river is actually about 30 minute drive south of the Chetco.
