Default First fish of the season

Went out for a few hours today, despite a woeful forecast. Turned out a fairly nice day, a little nippy, but not too windy. I was rigging up a czech nymph leader when the sun came out and a few flies (March Browns?) hatched immediately. So, nymphs back in the pocket and I tied on a size 18 parachute adams.
I started fishing a short riffle and raised two fish almost immediately but missed them and then landed this little beauty, my first of the season.

Nice pics Steve.....can I ask why you chose a size 18 artificial to deal with a March Brown hatch....seems like a strange choice unless you know something I dont......

Jimmy
It just looked about the same size as the naturals. I don't know if the flies were March Browns, this was a guess based on what I thought would be hatching around now.

Aye...you probably guessed right,March Browns or LDO's at this time of year....though its maybe a touch early for either in my neck of the woods.

However both species could be imitated with a size 12,certainly a 14 on the rivers I fish.
