Default February Theme

Oops...almost forgot about it

Wasted alot of time last season trying to get some good shots of fish approaching the net...not easy with one hand on the camera and one on the rod...especially when yer trying to get the fish in a.s.a.p. and not prolong it's distress for the sake of a pic. I did manage a few decent ones of the release though, and it struck me that the moment of release was far more pleasing on many levels.

So there we have the Feb theme.... 'Away ye go'

I agree, that Brownie is a beauty.

This one might have appeared before but it fits the theme. It's a wild Rainbow that I took on the Derbyshire Wye being carefully released by John Tyzack who was guiding me that day. As it was a wildie, I think it must rate as my "Fish of a Lifetime"

It certainly does fit the theme Roy...and great to see it again. Certainly,a fish of a lifetime. The Brownie from Malham was approaching 7 lb...I knew it was a 'reasonable' fish when it took off like a train and treated me to a few leaps and triple salko's... and I cacked myself for five or six miutes. 'Please please don't come off' .....I just sat in the boat after and smoked a couple of fags like a nervous wreck for 10 mins before I could fish again.

I reckon yer Rainbow to be a pound or two heavier than the Brownie...and if it fought anything like the biggest I've had out of the Wye (2lb)...then I'm pretty sure that your 'Tortoise factor' was pretty high too ! 'Nobody shout lettuce'

Such a thrill to see 'em going back and kicking for the sanctuary of the deep.

Great pics guys...keep 'em comin....

Always reminds me of when I was a lad and some girl was..shall we say, a little late "please G*d get me out of this and I'll never do it again"

JT gave that fish 10lbs but we didn't weigh it.
