Default first salmon

thought you would like to see a photie of my first salmon.

taken at the mouth of the waimakariri river in the south Island of new zealand, unfortunately not on the fly as the river is a bit big for the fly and the place gets packed so there is no room to cast; but still a lovely fish. the scales we had only went upto 20lbs and this top them out but from estimates from its weight and girth it came in at around the 22lb mark. Fought her for 25 minutes before landing her.

came in at 33 inches long and 22 inches girth.

Chinook salmon (Oncorhynchus tshawytscha) I believe. they are not native but are a wild self sustaining population.
