Default £30 well spent

I bought this portable lighting studio for £29.95 plus postage and I think it's great value for money. It comes with separate blue, red, white and black background cloths and everthing stows away nicely in the integrated carry bag. I tried a few standard flies and equipment photographs with the red and blue backgrounds then I tried a different background technique, which I like.

Then I tried a different background ........ http://www.flyforums.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17798

Looking good.

I ordered the studio when I saw the link in one of your previous posts. Still waiting, but looks worth it.

Just as I hit the "send reply" button for my last post, the postman knocked my door bearing my new studio.

If you purchased the studio from the same source as I did you'll have to get a couple of new 13 Amp plug tops as the ones supplied are useless.

I see what you mean. I take it the two pronged plugs were meant to plug up into the three prong plug body. Don't even come close.

I notice in your photos that you have an extra light over the studio. Did you find you needed this?

It depends on the camera really. If you have good control of your shutter speed and ISO settings you don't really need it. I was just experimenting with all sorts of different set ups.

You're better off just chopping off the 2-pronged connectors and installing new 13 Amp plugs.

For my shots bill, I use the Canon 400D with the Canon compact macro lens. Not cheap but does what i want it to do. I will also be using the macro lens for taking shots of mayflys next season. To get the best shot, put your camera on a tripod and put the ISO setting on the lowest function your camera has. This will give it best quality. Now you need to bring your shutter speed down to about 1/2 second to get the correct exposure. For the background i would say your £30 is well spent.
