Taken with my new canon compact macro lens.

Nice pic and vid Matt but they look like Mosquito larvae to me. Where did you find them?

I thought buzzers moved slowly? Those are certainly not slow. That top pic is cracking

I got them in my pond. Im from N.Ireland so i don't think we would be getting Mosquito's here. They are definatly buzzers.

That pic is definately not of a Chironomid (buzzer).

Of course there are many different types of Chironomids and Mosquitoes and yes, there are Mosquitos in these isles.

Ok i am wrong. There is around 20thousand mosquito's in my pond I scooped up loads of them and i have them in clean water in a bowl. Mesh net on top for saftey
