Default Is it Human nature..

to go to the easiest spot where all the other anglers are fishing ?

here you can see 20 to 30 anglers with more arriving and about 3 mackeral between them, most blanked while a little walk left or right of the spot put you over mackeral shoals.

while on the other hand a little walk down the beach over the rocks etc to my spot had me land two nice Bass, with what would have been a pb if he had grabbed the fly a litte firmer. Why follow it all the way and then lazily swim off must have been 5lb +..next time maybe

I had Mackeral getting in the way, would they spook the Bass ? the Bass vanished when the shoal came in, or they changed there feeding habits. A guy that followed me down had a dozen mackeral on light gear, great fun and a follow off a Bass. Unfortunately the tide came in and the mark doesnt fish on high tide. I still just cant believe how people take the easy option and fish in front of their cars

That looks like a mark in County Mayo where I fished a couple of years ago and caught my first mackerel.

Stylie

Yes it is human nature to "follow the crowd". They assume there must be fish there as lots of other anglers are about.

Leave them to it!!!!!!!!! You'll be able to fish in peace and not get crowded. But I reckon you don't need me to tell you that! ;-)

About 200 miles south of Mayo

I know Moby, I just got a giggle when I came off the rocks and saw all the angler lining up along side each other when there was great fishing left and right of them. Not 50yrds to their left a 16lb Bass was caught a few years ago
