Default Salmon, River Maine.

Got this one last night at Shanes Castle, River Maine, County Antrim, on one of Easkys home tied Cascade variants.

About 4lb, fresh as paint. Unfortunately, resuscitation didnt work, and it went belly up.

Going to be the main dish at my Dads 64th birthday tonight.

BTW, this is my first salmon in two years.....

congrats, you deserved a fish after 2years and really nice fish, fresh as a daisy all down to the expertly tied fly mind you

.... it certainly wasn't going to get away from the way you were holding on to its tail

Unfortunately from Mrs rrw I fear this catch may provoke an investment in new salmon fishing tackle - Angling Shops look out

Was speaking to a guy in Braddells, who said he saw hundreds of fresh fish at the gates at Portna on Saturday. They were banging off the gates, until the rivers agency guy lowered the gate and let them through.

That must be the run making its way up. Stevie, Alan and myself have all hooked fish this week.

Combined with the high water the fish are able to get up this year.

Someone should take some dynamite to the weir at Carnroe, its a joke that the fish are held back there...it does have a fish pass though..
