Default New Rod

Got a 7'9" RX7 blank from eBay. I have been playing with drills, cork and threaded rods.....

Has had one coat of Flexcoat Lite....think it needs one more...

The thread is Golden Sage with no Colour Preserver. The light wire single leg snakes were great to work with. I think that they are a Batson product. I got these from www.jsflyfishing.com

I hope that I get the chance to use it by the end of the summer!

Did you make turn the handle/real seat yourself. It's great. looks better than the one I attempted

I turned the reel seat myself, using burl cork which is a little more forgiving to work with than regular cork. I then attached a single burl ring to the end of a preformed grip to accommodate the receiver for the reel foot. Have plans for a similar set up for a 6'10" 1 weight - I will do a step by step when I get around to it.

Very nice Ben, good job.
I've just whipped the eyes on the first rod I've built for nearly 30 years. A little more rustic than your fine effort.
