Some of you folks may remember that I posted this picture in this gallery a few weeks back. Lots of people had different views as to what species this fish actually was (i.e. salmon or sea trout). Well since that debate I posted some scale samples to the EA who had their specialist analyse them. He said 99.9% certain that the fish in the picture was a SEA TROUT who had spawned twice or even three times. This deduction was based on the scales as he did not ever see this picture. So I hope that settles the debate.
Personally I was certain that the fish was a small salmon because of the scale count from the adipose finn and because of the rigid forked tail. However I can not argue with the EA scale information and reading as 99.9% is pretty certain.....
All the best,
Robbie
