Default Assynt area last week

Just back from Assynt. These were a first for me, we had quite a few over the week, very pretty fish.

Where did you fish and how was the weather?

Is your avatar picture not Fionn Loch and Suilven?

Traprain,

It is Fionn, weather was reasonable from a fishing point of view, though there was a stiff northerly for most of the week bringing pretty cold air temperatures at times, but the waters are warm leading to the peculiar sensation that the fish were warm when you handled them at times. There was a good hatch of fly coming off later in the week, like these.

I'm not an entomologist, anyone got any information on what they are? I tied up a passable imitation Wednesday evening and had great sport for the rest of the week on static dries from the boat.

Those are Mayfly duns. There is a good hatch on several Assynt waters.

Well done with the Charr. I've had loads on bait, but never on fly. Borralan?

Hi Kentangler,
Nice fish their, had a great days fishing at Fionn Loch a few years back with Lochinloch from the forum, we fished from the float tubes would highly recommend it to anyone thinking of paying it a visit!! A black peacock glister Sedgehog did the business that day i recall, although it was all broonies no charr for me!!

great pictures are they brook trout i am not sure because i have never seen trout like them
