That's a big chub, it looks every bit of 5lbs and no, it's not illegal to remove coarse fish unless it's against the club or landowners rules for the water.

It is pointless to keep chub as they are almost totally inedible.

Sorry I should have explained. The stream I caught the fish from is the other side of the railings, the chub was but back to fight another day.

Urban fly fishing is the new "summer trout fishing". Around my way most lakes are to warm and full of lice, the trout fishing is disappointing to say the least. The trout rivers are way to expensive and at least an hour away. But the local chub streams are full of fish, and its all C&R.

Last Saturday morning I landed over 30 fish up to 4lb plus. All of which (apart from two fish) where caught on dry flies.

If you ever fance a go. Ill guide for you!!!!

Where do you live? I thought all of Britains rivers were up and flooded last saturday...round the midlands it was a complete no hoper and still is now!
Roll on some dry stuff for a few days so I can get at 'em.

cracking fish mate i wish we had them up here in scotland would be good to try for other species on the fly
