Default Today's Dollaghan

Arriving at the river today I thought that I wouldn't get a chance to fish it as it was running high and dirty. I decided to fish down a pool that was normally slow and soon hooked into a few wee Browns. After 20 minutes, I caught this beauty of about 1.5lbs.

Took a Silver Stoats Tail. I managed to hook another but came free after 30 seconds in the fast water. After walking upstream to another stretch I started to fish it down. This fish took the same fly as soon as it hit the water.

Around the region of 2.5lbs, my personal best dollaghan. I also hooked another but it soon came off. I also had about 30 small browns in the 6 - 9 inch range. Back out tomorrow morning, hope there is no rain tonight as the river should be perfect tomorrow.

nice fish Brennan, sounds like you had a great day's fishing were you fishing the Ballinderry? I would say most of the Lough Neagh rivers will have had a few dollaghan running up them with all the water of last week.

Great fish.

That rain will have brought fish into all the rivers.

See how easy it is to photograph and return them Easky.

Yeah, was fishing the Ballinderry below Cookstown. Will be back in the morning and then off to the 6mile later in the week. These longs summer holidays are boring

yes and high banks with that net would be interesting - I usually use an extendable one which even then is sometimes a challenge. Tight lines and let us know how you get on this week

Was out this evening for a few hours. Managed to land one dollaghan and numerous brownies.

Took a Butcher on the dropper. Hooked a better one on the stoats tail that took to the air when it was hooked. It messed me about for a minute then the hook let go. Was in the region of 3lb.

Where I was fishing...

well done Brennan, you are on a roll - looks a nice pool and by the looks of it there is still a bit of water in it
