Went out for the day yesterday to the wye and usk foundation water on the Clettwr. Steamy, wet, difficult and slippery, trees had taken out most of the path so it was a little like a tarzan obstacle course. Once I managed to get down to the river, it was little easier with clear water, tiny pools and slippery rocks all over. I was soaked with sweat and rain by the end of the day and th horse flies had found me ( there were no bloody horses nearby so where do they come from). But I managed to pull three small wild brownies from this totally wild and difficult river, even my 7.5' 3 weight was too big really and at one point I was down to 1.75lb tippet to stop spooking them. This fish was the best of the day.
The path had been taken out so I managed to fall down the muddy slope; so not only did I manage to pull the fish but my knee tendon and back when I grabbed a passing tree. Important mental note, don't do this kid of thing alone, if I'd broken something I would have been royally screwed down there with no way I would have managed to get out on my own.
I now ache all over, am totally knackered, but felt great after completely getting away from it all.
Sorry about the picture quality and size but it was on my phone camera.
