Default 13kg Icelandic Brown Trout

A couple of pictures from my Icelandic friend Skuli Kristinsson of monster wild Icelandic Brownie ( not caught by him) - no doubt taken trolling. What a fish - love the use of the kids bike for scale. Out there in 10 days looking for its big brother!!

Default Wow!

The great thing is that even at that size it is a beautiful looking fish, great proportions and markings. The other fish was quite a size on it's own too!

To think the "smaller" fish is probably a double, Yikes. Can you get some more information about the capture ?? I knew Iceland had quality trout in its rivers but I didnt know it had that stamp of trout in its lakes.

there's a few lochs in Scotland that support trout of that size and bigger.

If you catch it, hopefully you won't kill it, like this muppet did.

What was the point in killing those fish?

I agree shame to kill such a fish. We fished a lake for Char in Iceland last year - the owner asked us to remove all fish caught as they are stunted - we caught nearly 300 Char to 4.75lbs in 4 visits - all returned ( against the owners wishes) bar about 10 which we ate - fantastic eating better than salmon and seatrout. Most Icelandic Anglers fish for the table - so muppet is a bit harsh - very different culture out there.

The smaller fish is over 5KG

Will post some piccies on our truimphant (hopefully) return.

Cheers Steve Cooper
