Default Fly identification please!

I took the photos below on a recent visit to the Ribble at Settle. These were coming off in larger numbers than I usually see on the Eden. What I want to know is, are they true march browns or - as I currently suspect - brook duns??

Going by the description in Goddard's Waterside Guide they are Large Brook Duns.

Going by the pics in pat o'Reillys Matching the Hatch i would say their definetly large brook dun's. Dont look like march browns, How ever a march brown imitation would probably do i would think.

So is this a march brown? If so what are the differences apart from the darker colour. From the Tweed in the last week of April last year.

How did the fish respond to them? Am afraid on this computer I don't see most images , including this one, so can't comment on the id.

Imago,

The fish didn't respond to them at all. I turned some stones nearby and found a lot of big ecdyonurus type nymphs, but neither nymph nor dry brought a response.......

To those interested in my camera, I'm afraid it's nothing special - an Olympus Mju 410 set to super macro.....and a steady hand!!
Exerod, I think yours looks more like a march brown, with that pale patch in the middle of the wing.

Legs, tails and eyes are the wrong colour. Both the LBD and MB have a clear patch on the wing but the MB has no veins in the patch and the LBD has, as far as I can make out from the various descriptions
