I had a small river cruiser once...I called it "Caithness Breeze"....."Copper Sunset" sounds almost as nice.

Lovely picture.

Very warm here in Central Scotland (22 dgr) No leaves on the majority of the trees and I wonder if the trees are being held back by the lack of rain.Must be a month since we had any !!!!

Any thoughts on this?

i think the trees are coming along at the proper pace, the silver birch outside my window has as many buds as normal for this time of year and the hawthorns are in bloom at the right time.its the 22c that's just slightly out of kilter, but not by much.iv'e has several hot spells about this time of year in my life.in fact i normally have a weeks motorcycle holiday in the north of Scotland at this time of year, because of the regularity of good weather.but it can also SNOW

The birch in my garden is beginning to green up too and is hanging with catkins. Haven't seen any Hawthorns blooming though, are you sure it isn't Blackthorn you are seeing? Most of the hawthorns are well out in leaf though. I don't see the Hawthorn flowers till the second week in May, and that has been regular for the past ten or so years. I used to keep a check on it, sad person that I am

It almost certainly is Blackthorn, it's been out for a few weeks now and the Hawthorn usually just precedes the first of the mayfly.

According to the long range forecast there is a good chance of snow in Scotland this weekend.

A new record for my area was daffodils in flower on 9th January, about two weeks earlier than the same place last year.
