Default wee fish by a wee girl

Hi All

My little daughter Emma wanted to have a go at fly fishing, so we had a play in the garden and went down the river, for an hour, she hooked into 6 fish, but only managed to land this small grayling All on the dry fly as well

It was a slight shame the fish was out of season, but a couple that she lost were a lot bigger, but quite good for her first ever go, I hope she will keep it up, but if she starts catching more than me

She caught and landed the fish of her own back with no help from me.

Nice one Andrew!

How old is your daughter? My lad George is coming up to his first birthday and I'm often wondering when in the future will be the right time to put a fly rod into his hands and take him down the river......

Hi M.

She is 9, but a small for her age, I think with your son he has a while to go yet , but it wont be long, I really think abot 9-10 is a good starting point it is more a case of co-ordination, than strength, give him a go when he feels like he wants to have a go, don't push him into it, I let Em have a go when she wants to, if she doesn't , fair enough
