Default banton dam

this is one of my local waters.had some nice wild browns averaging 3/4lbs and also some rainbows.
i think this could be a really good loch for the central belt of scotland if it had a better input from the local club that run it.

johnr,i agree that banton loch is a good well placed water, but that is the problem,it is too well placed, and gets serious abuse by locals with ledgers and swimfeeders.and it is badly vandalised.
i have no answers as to what to do about it.

aye but if the club took more interest in it i.e check permits more often, told the litter crew to clean up etc it could be improved.
hillend is also central and carron dam is only just over the hill and they are managed ok

Went to check it out a last year as a potential fishing spot. Lets just say I have no idea how you got them pictures. I would rename it the buckfast/trolleys/tyres/anyothercrapyoudon'twant loch.

Agree though could have potential but an utter disgrace when I seen it and to be honest i never really needed to see it I could smell it well in advance.

How did you get them pics?

johnr nobody else has mentioned it but is that your spinning/bait rod setup in the bottom photo? the loch is too close to banknock and kilsyth in buckfast alley to be properly policed by a club. remember the club officials will all be volunteers and dont necessarily need thier head kicked in on a saturday evening whilst out trying to catch poachers and vandals

i'll assume it was the klsyth end of loch you had a look at?if you walk if the far bank without path the litter isnt as bad.
the first 2 pics were taken from the path side nearer banton.no litter in pics as i fished this bay alot last season and took a bin liner and cleared rubbish.a couple of times i done this,a couple of locals (walking dogs )ofered to take the bags off me and put in their bins.
the third pic was taken from the north bank i.e side with no path.
the kilsth end is a disgrace with litter.it is popular there with noddy anglers as they can fish from a short walk from their cars

Just think what they will do to Carron given the chance once the Bows appear.

johnr, i am assuming that you live in banknock / kilsyth area and your 10 y.o. is keen on fishing. you should get your boy over to swanswater on a sunday morning for the sygnets club. hand him over with his permit money and sit with a coffee while he is instructed along with other kids of a similar age. shanksi on this forum would let you know times/dates if you were interested. well organised club, only for juniors. sorry to highjack the thread!!!!!!!
