Default Fantastic

Once spent a hazy New Year in a Wild Cottage, on the banks of the loch, how does it fish?

Loch Awe. Is that the one with a castle in it or am I confusing it with another as I don't see any reference to one on the map? Like most Scottish lochs I get to see them far too occasionally (once every five years or so) and if I'm lucky take a picture but never allowed the time to fish them. I envy you DaveM and 3lb Grayling to be able to fish these waters surrounded by such awesome scenery.

Hooray, it is the one I was thinking of. I decided to do a quick search of the fishing. Have a look at this site page. www.loch-awe.com/fish/ . Flippin Nora, I wouldn't fancy taking a dip in there with those things swimming round in it not to mention the pike. I can't say trolling ever took my fancy but could you imagine hooking one of those, you'd think the navy had put down a submarine on exercise. Still I'd quite happily settle for catching one of it's great great great great grandfish with those surroundings.

Awe used to be a favourite stop off of a few hours for me before they put the permits on it, now I just drive past.

This is a picture of Kilchurn Castle at the top of the loch.

This is my mate Davie with a 24Lb 9oz pike from up near there.

This is me in 1976 with a 16Lb 8oz brown taken trolling at the Ford end.
