Default Bahamas Bonefish

I've just received these images this morning from Mike Shanks, Irish Angler Magazine, taken whilst he was on holiday in the Bahamas last month with Roy Pierce (photographed). This is Roy Pierce, of Grasshopper Cottage, Loch Corrib landing a 6lb bonefish on a nielsen 9ft #6 fly rod.

Fenton,

I don't know the exact location. I'll find out and get back to you.

Jim,

I haven't seen you close up but I stayed with Roy Pierce and there are striking similarities. Close up, Roy looks like a retired boxer that's shipped a few nose shots, but, like yourself he is a total gentleman. If you ever get the hankering to fish Lough Corrib, go and stay with Roy. His guest house garden rolls down to his own jetty with 4 boats and he knows the Lough like the back of his hand.

Angry

Invicta,
Are you going to allow this?

How sickening is that? Sitting here in the middle of another Scottish winter, there isn’t a fishable river within a thousand miles and these guys are out on the flats having this much fun!

It‘s just not fair.

It's a been there-done that for me, stayed at the Peace and Plenty, different guide/ flat every day, best day was 29 between two of us out over a 'mud' at high tide, fish on almost every cast for a while, exhiliarating sport, lost two fish that day, sharks took them, its the only time that they can catch them when they are on the line, the whole area is festooned with flats and it is the only place that I have witnessed the colour of the sea changing....yes the guide pointed it out, two or three Baracuda's herding bonefish like sheepdogs with sheep and as the shoal moved round, so did the colour of the sea change, mindblowing experience never to be forgotten.
