Arne R.S is on a distinguished road
Default "Land of the Midnight Sun"

Hello!

I am from Norway and I am new at this forum. Here are some photos from Norway that I have taken in 2005 and 2006. The photos are mostly from west coast of Norway, and from the Daleriver in Hordaland county. Daleriver is the neighbour river to the more famous Vosso.

The Daleriver is hidden in the industrial town of Dale, and it is a regulated river. To compensate for this a regular beading program has been funded that has successfully maintained a good fishable salmon stock. The cultivation is very important.

Daleriver is an example of modern river management that proves there can be a balance between man and natur

For you english guys I said "Hey Arne, I too live in Norway but am originally from england. The mandal river is my local river, and I'm lucky enough to fish it free!"

Pete, was lucky enough not to be at work today, as there there was a woman that got trapped under a lorry and dragged 400yards before the lorry stopped. Needless to say, she died, not really the kind of call outs one hopes for!

Arne, do you know what is the up-to-date position as regards the Vosso? Are there still wild fish in any numbers? Is the salmon hatchery in Voss still operating and if so where are they sourcing their broodstock from? Is there any chance of the river being reopened for fishing for more than the very restricted time as currently. Does anyone yet know why the fish disappeared so suddenly in the late 1980s? And are there still salmon farms in the fjord?

Sorry, loads of questions, but I spent some very happy years there and would love to catch up with things. Good pictures, by the way.
