Default Nocturnal Kingfisher?

While out looking for spawning fish last night we came across this little fellow

Not the best photo in the world despite getting within 3 feet of him with the camera. It was quite happy to sit there while I took 5 or 6 pics and wasn't bothered by us talking, it only flew off when my shadow cast by the moon fell on it. Does anyone know if they often fish at night or was he just sleeping at his supper table.

maybe they do andy im not 100% i have disturbed many herons over the years feeding at night but they are allready standing in the water these wee birds as you know have to dive down into the water to feed and at that speed especially at night i dont think so plus there eyes set to far to the side of there heads and not binocular so i dont think so
