Hi All.

They are starting to become common on the upper Severn, I was dry fly fishing on a warm summers evening, this summer, it was just starting to go dark, I had taken a few pics of the trout I had caught in the water, I thought it was getting a little dark so switched the camera off , to my right hand side I heard a noise , the only thing I could decribe it as, was heavy breathing then between the tip of my rod and my self, up popped a large dog otter, it turned and stared at me, with a look of whats that on his face, I slowly moved my had up to the camera, soon as the lens came out the otter was gone ******, but what a fantastic sight.

I was carp fishing in France a few years back and spent the first few days watching what I thought were otters. Three nights in I woke in the middle of the night to find a Coipu in my bivvi munching away on my boilies. I panicked one (OK ... it panicked me!) and it got it's head stuck in the bag handle and went balistic inside the bivi.

Never seen a fresh water otter, though seen sea otters around Kinlochbervie on the west coast and Rosemarkie on the east.

in britain,it's the same beastie
when folk see a big dog otter for the 1st time, they're always shocked as to how big it is.
