The camera was nothing special, just a 3.2 mega pixel Olympus D-395. The first grayling shot was taken in August, in a heavily wooded part of river, where a strong shaft of sunlight was illuminating a small pool to the edge of the main flow. The camera was on its macro setting and any surrounding light was duller/in shade than the illuminated pool. In the right place at the right time............
Funnily enough have used the camera for 2 1/2 years as a fishing camera - 2 weeks into ownership I dropped it in the river. Having immediately taken the batteries out, I got home & set to work with the hairdryer & then left it in the airing cupboard for a week...it worked !....it has made a full recovery ever since !
The first grayling shot & the two browns are from The Little River Avon (South Glos.) and the two larger grayling are from The Test (Longparish). The first brown though is a slightly grainy scan from a 35mm film shot.
