Default River Brownie - weight = ?

Hey folks, have been fly fishing for a month or 2 now, and last week I caught this, my biggest catch from my local river: the Teifi, in Wales. I released him so he could grow larger for me to catch again sometime Or someone else, ofcourse

Was wondering what kind of weight this guy is? He seems quite long (about the length of my elbow to wrist), but not very "chunky", so I'm really not sure given my short experience. Any ideas?

Cheers,

Tom

I'd say about 1lb 2oz, I'm not sure it would go to 1lb 4oz.

As you say, a slim fish but beautifully coloured.

Pound and a half, unless you have hands like Jeremy Beadle.

If you do, i'd say 4lbs.

Thanks folks

I was hoping it was over a pound Not a monster, but compared to the 6-7inch ones I suaully catch, its a decent size This one was actually pulling some line of my reel too, hehe, first time thats happened to me on the river.

And my hands are about average size I think

1lb2oz-1lb4oz Would have weighed a bit more for it's length but is a bit on the slim side.

1lb exactly is my guess. It is hard to say without knowing the size of you! A big fish will look even bigger in a photo if the captor is a wee guy (or gal), and vice versa.
I caught my first salmon when I was nine. In the photograph, the salmon (a 13.5lb fish) was almost the same height as me!!

keep up the good work!

Alex

I'd give it a couple of ounces over 1lb. Good length, but looks more towards wirery than plump.
